The Sugared Sun Was Shining
…Investigator was brought here early in the evening by a prostitute-hostess employed at the Back Stage Club, 110 West 56th Street, prior to going to her own club. The place is located one flight up, over a garage, with entrance through a hallway, the door of which is guarded by a lookout. On the second floor there is a peep-hole in the door where visitors are again carefully scrutinized before being admitted. Inside is a 40 foot bar, made entirely of glass, containing water filled with gold fish. All types of drink are sold and the place was very elaborately furnished."
